The process of Graduation for Masters students:
- Your completion is authorised and then confirmed on the University student database.
- You will be sent your final transcript
- You will be allocated to a graduation ceremony
- A letter will be sent to you regarding your graduation offer and an on line response facility will be opened on the Graduations website
- You must respond to the offer and confirm either:
i. Your attendance at ceremony or
ii. In absentia graduation (certificate is mailed to you) or
iii. deferral to another round of ceremonies
This means that the you can expect to receive (according to your choice):
iv. Attendance - tickets and information ten days prior to ceremony
v. In absentia graduation - certificate in mail sent after conferring period has concluded (ie in May for first semester ceremonies, in September for second semester ceremonies, and in January for December ceremonies)
vi. deferral to another round of ceremonies - a graduation offer for the chosen round of ceremonies after the appropriate allocation period. - You will either attend your ceremony or are sent the certificate.
- At the conclusion of the round of ceremonies the conferral date is set for your award on the University student information system.
Please note that your award certificate or testamur will only be granted to you once you have been allocated to a graduation ceremony. If your completion was processed after the end of semester entry period you will not graduate until the next ceremony is held.
Process of Completion for all other Graduate Environmental Program awards :
Students who have completed a Postgraduate Diploma, the Postgraduate Certificate, the Graduate Diploma or the Graduate Certificate do not attend scheduled conferring ceremonies; instead your certificate is posted to you at the conclusion of each round of ceremonies.
Please note that the University of Melbourne graduation ceremonies are only held in a few select months of any given year. Please consult the Student Portal for dates of ceremonies.
If your completion has been processed after the end of semester entry period, you will be unable to graduate until the conclusion of the next ceremony round.
The process of completion is as follows:
- Your completion is authorised and then confirmed on the University student database
- You will be sent your final transcript in the mail
- You will be allocated to the final ceremony of the current round (this is the date that will be on your certificate). The final ceremony date is always used to process in absentia awards.
- A letter will be sent to you from the Graduations Team informing you that you will be sent your certificate after the conferring period has concluded.
- At the conclusion of the round of ceremonies the conferral date is set for your award on the Universities student information system.
