Core Subjects
The core subjects must be taken by all students enroled in either the 100 point Masters Program or 200 point Masters Program.
They offer the foundation for environmental and disciplinary learning and so should be taken as early in each students course of study as possible.
The two core subjects enable students to have appreciation of sustainability, and of multi/transdisciplinary thinking and learning that is distinctive to the Graduate Environmental Program. Core subjects are also required within all streams as they provide the platform for further learning.
950-600 Transdisciplinary Thinking and Learning
Coordinator: Dr Simon Batterbury (OEP)
Transdisciplinary thinking and learning enhances multidisciplinary thinking skills and further develops this kind of critical thinking though readings, class discussions and collaborative assessment. The subject will also further develop analytical approaches to environmental issues of complexity and uncertainty.
950-601 Sustainability, Policy and Management
Coordinator: Dr Simon Batterbury(OEP)
Sustainability, policy and management provides a fundamental appreciation of the concepts of sustainability and the skills to recognise appropriate (or best) practice in implementing sustainability. The subject will also assist students in deciding which further subjects to take and which stream may be the most suitable.
